Approaches for the integration of decentralized storage
19 September, 2024

On 19 September 2024, an online workshop titled "Approaches for the Integration of Decentralized Storage" was held as part of the German-Israeli Energy Partnership. Participants included representatives from Israeli energy authorities, grid operators, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and German experts, including those from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the German Energy Agency (dena), the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA), and a German technology company.
The workshop covered topics such as small-scale batteries, business models for virtual power plants, and challenges in grid integration of storage systems. German experts shared experiences on regulatory frameworks, technical solutions, and incentive mechanisms for integrating storage at various voltage levels. In the concluding discussion, participants explored strategies to promote energy storage, technical challenges, and the future role of storage in the energy system.
